On 20th of June was held a national workshop in organization of the Trade union of public and state administration of Macedonia in cooperation with the Business Confederation of Macedonia, which are part and participate in the implementation of the project “Overcoming challenges in the field of posting of workers through the joint cooperation of social partners from the public sector”. Included in this project also are trade unions from Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Serbia and Albania.
This project covers the implementation of directives concerning the redistribution of public sector workers in another EU country, to be service providers, or to work there temporarily.
At the workshop held among the participants, the mentioned directives were discussed, what is their implementation in our country and whether it exists at all.
These directives provide a minimum level of protection for employees temporarily distributed to work in another EU country. If there are collective agreements applicable to all employees in an EU country, then these collective agreements should be public, transparent, and to be applied to distributed workers. According to these directives, the firms where the workers are sent must respect the rights like the minimum wage they should receive (which is established in the country), protection at work, respect for collective agreements, paid annual leave, health care, protection for pregnant women, children and young people, equal treatment of men and women, and the elimination of all forms of discrimination.

As a conclusion was discussed the importance of this project because of the need for information and knowledge of the directives, especially as a candidate country for EU membership, the need to propose joint initiatives with the social partners from the EU countries in order to better protect the rights of the distributed workers, but at the same time to generate free and fair movement of workers and higher levels of employment.
