Today we mark the International day for safety and health at work. This year we will dedicate this day to all workers who lost their lives due to the exposure to corona virus at work.
Europe, but also the whole world has been in a kind of prison during this crisis, and public service workers and many others risk their lives to provide basic services. That is why the data on the number of deaths due to corona virus is tragic. In that honour EPSU made a tribute to these workers that sacrifice their lives.

However, April 28 is not only a day that should be marked, but also a day to remind us that we still need to lead the fight to ensure needed level of protection at work.
Especially now that we are in a pandemic, it has become clear that safety and health at work are not at a satisfactory level in our country. This includes not only medical staff but also police, prison officials, government officials, utilities workers and others.
On behalf of the International OSH Day this year, EPSU published a joint statement with other European trade union federations under the motto ‘Remember the dead – Fight for the living’ (full statement at the following link)
The Trade union of public and state administration of Macedonia throughout the year does not forget the importance of this day and continues in its fight for a dignified job that is also a safe job.
At the same time, we would like to express our gratitude to all employees who in this difficult working atmosphere are trying to do their job professionally in difficult conditions and inadequate level of safety at the workplace.
